The Patriots' Hall of Dripping Springs is a permanent retreat and resource base designed to meet the needs of all veterans and their families. Kathryn Chandler, a Dripping Springs resident and daughter of a Vietnam veteran, saw the potential of the city and hung the steering wheel. This Christian retreat center in Yorktown, Texas, offers two programs that are completely free and include lodging, meals and refreshments. They also organize a series of equine retreats for veteran spouses, where you can participate in trust-building activities not related to horseback riding.
Considering that Dripping Springs is only 20 miles from Austin, the board decided that it is the ideal spot to bring together veterans from all over Central Texas. The mission of House in the Woods is to provide lifesaving healing to active service members, veterans and their families through free therapeutic retreats and bereavements. The Patriots' Hall of Dripping Springs aims to bring together veterans of all ages and military service to attend rotating art classes, therapeutic workshops, off-site field trips, networking opportunities, motivational speakers, family reunions, assistance with claims to the VA, and an in-house wellness center. The National Association of Military Families organizes camps in several locations, including Texas, AZ, NC, MA, AK, and more. The event is organized by the Camaraderie Foundation, a group dedicated to providing counseling to military and veterans at no cost.
Every day, veterans return home and face financial difficulties, family transitions, and emotional and physical challenges due to their time in the military.
